Those who've experienced the singletrack surge in the southern Adirondacks know something special is happening. Those who haven't, will, as soon as they ride there.
Just wow! After a two-year hiatus, the return of Bike the Barns did not disappoint as over 175 cyclist took to the pastoral country roads of Essex County on October 8 to farm-by-bike in support of Adirondack North Country Association's Food Systems programs.
Whether you rode 20, 42 or all 62-miles, it was an awesome day on the bike capped by some delicious pizza and beer at Paradox Brewery with live tunes by Margarita Mike. And a special thanks to the good people at Elk Lake Lodge, Hunter Way Farm and the Penfield Homestead Museum for the incredible rest stop experiences. Cheers to next year!
While only a few years old, the Adirondack Mountain Bike Festival hosted at McCauley Mountain in Old Forge has quickly grown into an instant classic complete with all the dirt loving hits.
When a group of passionate kids have an idea and a community of support behind them, it's incredible how fast things can happen. In the case of the new Town of Harrietstown Bike Park, which officially opened on August 16 in the Village of Saranac Lake, fast was only a year.
Despite the delays, the Department of Environmental Conservation expects work on the first section of the Adirondack Rail Trail--between the Lake Placid and Saranac Lake depots--to begin this fall and finish in 2023.
Not only was it a postcard ADK day for the 22nd Pat Stratton Ride, but the riders and sponsors delivered yet again, generating $12,500 for Saranac Lake area youth programs.

Over 100 riders and river enthusiasts took the the Ausable River Valley in Wilmington, Ausable Forks and Jay Sunday to celebrate this incredible watershed with a sun soaked ride featuring picturesque routes of 45 or 30 miles, craft beer by Great Adirondack Brewing, BBQ by Pork Busters and live music from The Doghouse Carpenters.
