October is For Adirondack Mountain Bike Fest
Fall is THE BEST season to hit the trails, especially in Old Forge during Adirondack Mountain Bike Festival.
While only a few years old, the Adirondack Mountain Bike Festival hosted at McCauley Mountain in Old Forge has quickly grown into an instant classic complete with all the dirt loving hits:
- Awesome Trails
- Bonfires
- Live Music
- Craft Beer
- Permagrin
The 2022 version definitely checked all the boxes and then some as hundreds or riders rolled into the Town of Webb to celebrate the labor of love put forth by the Adirondack Foothills Trails Alliance (AFTA) and Central Adirondack Association.
A recent $250,000 grant through the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation was a huge boost for trail development, but that didn't come without hundreds of hours of volunteer digging by the dedicated members of AFTA.
Group rides were clearly the hit at the free festival, but those led to plenty of time for riders to explore the expansive network on their own. From old school rooty rocky single track to full-on machine groomed flow, McCauley has a little bit of everything for every level of rider. Including a brand new skills park designed for groms.
Best of all, the entire festival raises money to - you guessed it - build and maintain more AFTA trails. Needless to say, mark the first weekend of October on your calendar for next fall and we'll see you in Old Forge.
