Just wow! After a two-year hiatus, the return of Bike the Barns did not disappoint as over 175 cyclist took to the pastoral country roads of Essex County on October 8 to farm-by-bike raising over $10,000 to support Adirondack North Country Association's Food Systems programs.
The picturesque fall ride was highlighted by stops at, and tours of, Reber Rock, Juniper Hill and Echo Farms followed by a post-ride party at the Hub on the Hill. Bluebird skies, delicious food from Green Goddess and tasty beverages from Ausable Brewing, plus live music from the Insolent Willies capped an already incredible day. Here's what our riders said:
"From pre-ride communication to the very end of the party, this lifelong cyclist was consistently impressed. My first Bike ADK ride, it won't be my last and I'm bringing friends from Syracuse, NY. I could not have expected a better experience, and I'm paying attention now. Every morning for the rest of the year at least, when I put maple syrup from Hub On The Hill in my coffee, I will smile with gratitude. Thank you." - Dick, Syracuse, NY
"What a great way to see a snapshot of the (ADK) region, to shed important light on the farm to table model and to educate folks on how to support this local treasure." - Bobby, Lambertville, NJ
"Without any doubt, Bike The Barns is a superior cycling event. As a ride organizer and a lifelong cyclist, this ride is my new standard. Three hours of driving each way for a 25 mile ride? I was a doubter, but no longer. I'll be back, and for more Bike ADK events."
"I don't consider myself to be an avid cyclist, but BikeADK made Bike the Barns accessible for folks of varying ability levels, and I was happy to ride along at my own pace and enjoy the magnificent autumn scenery. The event support was terrific as well." - Megan
