Bike Adirondacks (BikeADK), a bicycle tourism company based in Saranac Lake, NY is now hiring the following positions:
- Brand Ambassador
- Bicycling Guide
- Shuttle Driver
These positions have been made available by the provisions of a grant to from the New York State Office of Community Renewal CDBG. Low-to-moderate income persons as defined by HUD will be given first consideration in hiring. Information can be obtained by contacting BikeADK at fun@bikeadk.com.

POSITION: BRAND AMBASSADOR
Bike Adirondacks (BikeADK), a bicycle tourism company based in Saranac Lake, NY, is seeking to hire a seasonal Brand Ambassador to market the brand and sell its hard goods at weekend events across the Adirondack Region during the months of June-October.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work directly with BikeADK owner Doug Haney and will have the following core responsibilities:
- Set up and manage a professional BikeADK retail presence at various outdoor events throughout the contract period.
- Establish relationships with “brick & mortar” retail locations (outdoor stores, bicycle shops, etc.) with the goal of signing retail outlets as authorized dealers of BikeADK branded products.
- Assist in product development (types of products, colors, designs) to continually grow the brand.
- Manage product inventory.

Other events may be added to this schedule if agreed upon by the Brand Ambassador and BikeADK owner.
Requirements
The successful candidate will fulfill the following requirements for the position:
- Excellent conversational skills with the ability to interact with customers in a relaxed, but sales focused fashion.
- Impeccable money management skills.
Compensation
Includes a daily base rate for on-site event sales, plus commission. Details will be provided during position interviews.
Additional Support
BikeADK will also provide the following support:
- Training in advance of and onsite at the first event of the season
- Vehicle for use during events
- All materials necessary to be successful
- Display (tents, tables, chairs, banners, etc)
- Hard goods (branded products for sale)
- Point of sale material

POSITION: BICYCLING GUIDE
Bike Adirondacks (BikeADK), a bicycle tourism company based in Saranac Lake, NY, is seeking to hire seasonal bicycle guides responsible for safely caring for participants in BikeADK tours and events. This includes providing an inclusive, positive and safe environment for all guest.
Duties & Responsibilities
Guide Tours
- Lead groups of riders on organized tours, ensuring the safety of all participants at all times.
- Keep the group together and on schedule, making sure to stick to one of the predetermined routes.
- Provide entertaining and informative commentary about landmarks and points of interest along the route.
- Ensure that all riders understand and follow safety guidelines and regulations.
- Handle any issues or emergencies that may arise during the tour in a calm and professional manner.
Customer Service
- Check guests in and welcome them in a friendly manner.
- Provide clear instructions for safe bicycling.
- Respond to any questions or concerns from riders.
- Handle any customer complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for guests.
Bike Maintenance
- Perform basic repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
- Fix minor issues that arise on the tour.
Additional Details
This role is a flexible, seasonal, and part-time job that is great for those looking for supplemental or intermittent work. Events are scheduled throughout the season and guides will have a contract committing them to several events on the pre-determined schedule. Private tours will also come up throughout the cycling season. Those will be assigned to guides based on availability, interest and specific expertise for the individual types of tours.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Over the age of 18
- Familiarity with the Adirondacks and Adirondack Rail Trail
- Ability to ride a bike up to 50 miles in one day
- Comfortable fixing flat tires/basic maintenance (training provided)
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to operate a passenger van or shuttle bus
- Ability to pull and safely back up a trailer
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow directions and schedules
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Good customer service skills
Previous tour guide experience, customer service roles, bike mechanic experience, professional medical training and multilingual candidates are a plus!
Compensation
This position starts at $20/hr, plus tips with considerations for relevant experience.
Additional Support
BikeADK will also provide the following support:
- Training in advance of first workday and supervised training for the first week of employment
- Clean, working vehicle with insurance and proper New York State inspections
- Insurance coverage while guiding
- BikeADK outerwear to be worn while working

POSITION: SHUTTLE DRIVER
Bike Adirondacks (BikeADK), a bicycle tourism company based in Saranac Lake, NY, is seeking to hire a seasonal shuttle driver who will be responsible for transporting passengers to and from designated locations. In this position, you will be expected to operate shuttle vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, maintain a clean and well-organized vehicle, and provide exceptional customer service to passengers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Transport passengers to and from designated locations in a safe and timely manner
- Follow pre-planned routes and schedules to ensure timely arrival at destinations
- Assist passengers with loading and unloading of luggage and other items
- Securely loading and unloading of passengers bicycles
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shuttle vehicle
- Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving the shuttle vehicle
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers, addressing any questions or concerns they may have
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
