Adirondack Health Supports Community Wellness
Our Bike Adirondacks Partner of the Month for March is Adirondack Health, a non-profit medical group that provides over 60,000 Adirondack region residents with a full spectrum of health and wellness services. Adirondack Health’s 900 employees provide sophisticated medical services to their friends and neighbors from facilities including Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, Lake Placid Health and Medical Fitness Center, Keene Health Center, Saranac Lake Health Center, Tupper Lake Health Center, St. Regis Falls Health Center, Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake, and Adirondack Health Dental Care in Lake Placid.
Adirondack Health has also taken on the role of a key community institution offering wellness support that is more important than ever during the pandemic.
“We take our mission very seriously,” says Communications Director Matt Scollin. “An important part of that mission is to promote overall community benefit, so we’re always looking for opportunities to give back in ways that make a tangible difference.”
Those community benefits cover a lot of ground, including free community classes that focus on important issues such as cardiac disease, prenatal care, smoking cessation, CPR, diabetes and more. They host blood drives throughout the year, support flu clinics, and engage local students interested in healthcare careers by offering them an opportunity to gain first-hand experience working in a hospital setting. Adirondack Health also partners with other area nonprofits with similar missions, such as St. Joseph's Addiction and Rehabilitation Center, High Peaks Hospice, North Country Life Flight, the U.S. Olympic Training Center, and Mercy Care for the Adirondacks.
Doug Haney, Owner of Bike Adirondacks, says he’s been working with Adirondack Health since 2015, and the partnership has been a win for everyone.
“Adirondack Health is not just committed to supporting community wellness, it is also committed to supporting communities. With their sponsorship of BikeADK, we were able to purchase a number of event tents, which we in turn provide to other events to use for free."
If you have an event that could utilize these tents, please reach out to BikeADK at fun@bikeadk.com to request usage.
