World Cup Update & Sweet Ticket Deal
We took a backstage tour of the WHOOP UCI (International Cycling Union) Mountain Bike World Series scheduled for Sept. 27-29 at Mt Van Hoevenberg. Highlights below, PLUS a sweet ticket package deal for BikeADK friends & family.
While still under construction, the course at Mt Van Hoeverberg is going to be insanely fun for riders to race and for spectators to get front and center to watch riders, fresh from the Olympics, battle. We took a tour and can confirm. More on that below. But first, THIS:
BikeADK friends & family can score admission for all three days for just $40 (ages 13+) and for $30 for juniors (ages 7-12) and seniors (65+). Little rippers under 7 are free. CLICK HERE to lock it in, then book your lodging, campsite, couch to surf on, etc. It's leaf peeper season in the Adirondacks and beds get snagged fast.
p.s. If you're a season pass holder (Whiteface|Gore|Belleayre|MVH) – you save a little more if you use you 24-25 season pass to score the package.
Alright, back to the course. Here's our Top 3 takeaways:
- It's got everything - punchy climbs, rocket fast descents, techy trees, air, rocks, logs, banks & berms, whoops and whips, and lines galore through it all.
- It's mega spectator friendly. At most any vantage point, you can see numerous sections of the course as it winds around the core base area at Mt Van Hoevenberg.
- It's a crazy cool venue. Not only is the course easily accessible, but the new lodge is world class. Plus the factory teams paddock area and public expo village are all right there, too.
Basically, you can see and do it all without having to hoof miles to get the goods. Check this out for more course details.
And that's just what's going on at the Mt Van Hoevenberg competition venue during the race schedule, which features Cross Country Olympic and Short Track, plus Marathon distances over three days.
Barkeater Trails Alliance (BETA), the regional trail building nonprofit, is hosting a FREE Community Bike Jam in downtown Lake Placid on Friday, September 27 to kick off the weekend featuring a BMX Stunt Show by Montreal based Krusher BMX and live entertainment at postcard perfect Mid's Park. Billed as a celebration of the cycling community, the family focused event will celebrate the volunteer efforts of BETA members, showcase local bike shops and community organizations, and bring the UCI action into the heart of the Olympic Village. Schedule coming soon.
Best of all, secure bike parking will be provided so you can roll in with ease and valet park your whip. Thanks, CycleSafe!
If the sweet ticket deal, course teaser and Community Bike Jam aren't enough to entice you to book those tickets now, then wait until we tell you about the 125+ miles of incredible trails built and maintained by BETA in Lake Placid and the surrounding communities of Wilmington, Saranac Lake, Keene and Elizabethtown. All of which you can ride for free throughout the weekend.
Better yet, come on up August 30 - September 1 for BETA's Wilmington Mountain Bike Fest and sample a few during a group ride led by members of BETA.
