2024 Winter Bike Results & Photos

Sunshine and perfect snow conditions highlighted the 2024 Empire State Winter Games Winter Bike races at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake.

It's hard to have a bad day on the bike when the weather is absolutely perfect. That's especially true when you're riding a bike in February. Smiles (see photo gallery below) on both riders and spectators proved that point when 42 racers took to the hard packed snow at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake for Empire State Winter Games fat bike racing.

Now in its second year at Dewey Mountain, operated by the Town of Harrietstown, the 1.8 mile course featured a mix of singletrack and wide groomed cross country ski trails that made for a challenging, but fast course with expert riders completing five laps, intermediate riders pedaling three and beginners one.

In addition to new singletrack sections, the event also featured professional race timing by Underdog Race Timing. Even NBC Channel 5 stopped by for a news report.

"My dad and I very much enjoyed the 2024 ESWG Winter Bike Race," said John Gracey of Verona, NY, who won the 12 and under class. "It was our second year coming up, and we're already making plans to return in 2025! The venue, the course, and the event are all excellent in every way. Seven hours round-trip was time well-spent!"

Rest assured, John and riders, we'll be back at Dewey Mountain in 2025 with a very fun course to keep the winter bike stoke going.
