2021 Summer Cycling Event Calendar
With the restrictions of the Covid pandemic receding, you can once again plan a summer outdoors in the Adirondacks with a wealth of events opening back up to the public. Let’s ride!
July 17: Tughill Epic 106 Gravel Grinder, Lowville – This gravel grinder features 15, 40, 75, and even a 106-mile gravel route.
July 18: Ride for the River, Wilmington – This annual BikeADK road ride is back in person this year with 30 and 45-mile route options to support the Ausable River Association. Do the Tailgater ride on Saturday and make a weekend of it!
July 25: Pisgah Pedalfest - Saranac Lake - This youth-created mountain bike event is all about family fun and features guided bike tours, a single stage enduro race down The Cure, a variety of bike skills stations, prizes, food, music, and more. All skill levels welcome. Registration is only $10 and all proceed support the effort to build a pump track in the Saranac Lake community.
July 31-August 1: Churney Gurney Weekend, Queensbury – Churney Gurney is back on and better than ever for 2021, including both running and mountain bike races, plus great food and Common Roots brews.
August 6: The Weekender at Paul Smith’s College, Paul Smith’s – There is no better setting for a road cycling experience than Paul Smith's College, and this BikeADK sponsored weekend is a great family experience that features great routes and off bike events, to benefit the college’s Climate Fellowship Program.
August 22-24: Summer Great Camp Sagamore Experience, Raquette Lake – This multi-day experience in stunning Raquette Lake blends road cycling with a modern mini-vacation. This weekend is designed to provide you with a true connection to the landscape and history of this special place, including guided road rides in the morning, followed by camp exploration and relaxation in the afternoon.
August 28: Pat Stratton Ride, Saranac Lake – Named after a local plumber and cycling enthusiast, the Pat Stratton Ride is a road cycling tour featuring some of the most stunning scenery and terrain in the northern Adirondacks. Ride any of the routes that include 28, 42, 56, and 100-miles to benefit youth programs in Saranac Lake.
September 3-5: Wilmington Mountain Bike Festival, Wilmington – The Wilmington MTB Festival is 3-day celebration with on-site camping, live music, local food & beer, bike demos, group rides for all abilities, shuttles, kids MTB race, and 25+ miles of beautiful Adirondack-style single track riding.
September 12: The Forge Gravel Grinder, Old Forge – Forging takes a mighty hammer, so here’s your chance to hammer the gravel in Old Forge at this gravel, mountain, and fat bike event.
September 19-21: Fall Great Camp Sagamore Experience, Raquette Lake – This multi-day experience in stunning Raquette Lake blends road cycling with a modern mini-vacation. This weekend is designed to provide you with a true connection to the landscape and history of this special place, including guided road rides in the morning, followed by camp exploration and relaxation in the afternoon.
September 25: The Handlebarley, North Hudson – This 41-mile mixed surface ride has it all, including stunning scenery, lightly trafficked back roads, a visit to the historic Penfield Homestead Museum, and a ride-ending pizza party at the Paradox Brewery with live music and craft beer. Just don’t wait, because registration is limited to 50 riders.
